Welcome to

THE MONITORING GROUP NORTH (TMGN)

We are hoping that you have already heard of us and of the services that we have been delivering amongst Sheffield’s Black and Minority Ethnic Communities

If by chance you have not heard about TMGN then please allow us to explain what we have been doing to help the communities and individuals who have requested our assistance.

TMGN has clear aims and objectives:

  • To promote good race relations by endeavouring to eliminate discrimination on grounds of race and encouraging equality of opportunity between persons of different racial groups.
  • To advance race relations by means of education and by raising awareness.
  • To assist people who are distressed or are suffering from racially motivated violence and/or harassment.
  • To support and empower our clients / communities to be confident in dealing with and overcoming whatever problems they may face.

TMGN has helped families who have lost their loved ones in circumstances of street murder, death in custody.
The help and support that TMGN has given has included:

  • Home / Hospital visits.
  • Liaison work / communication with statutory bodies and family members.
  • Arranging transport for police interview /court appearances.
  • Arranging the collection of family members from UK airports and delivery to relatives’ homes within the city.
  • Arranging, preparing and transporting family members for police press conferences and a role out of press and radio interviews.
  • On going support post trauma date leading up to and beyond court conclusion.

All the work undertaken at TMGN has been carried out on a purely voluntary basis but we have plans to develop the service into one that contracts with agencies so we can provide comprehensive, quality assured services in your community.
